Abilities

The Three Councilors make up the third boss that the player encounters in the Forsaken Spire.

Appearance[]

The Three Councilors consists of the Councilor of War, Magic and Wisdom. Their general appearance is that of a haunched robed skeletons slightly resembling the classical concept of a Grim Reaper.

  • The Councilor of War is recognizable for the large scythe it wields and it's single red eye.
  • The Councilor of Magic does not carry any weapons and has purple eyes
  • The Councilor of Wisdom carries a staff and is frothing at the mouth.

Abilities[]

Each of the Councilors has their own unique attack.

  • The Councilor of War slashes with his Scythe inflicting damaging to those around and sending of a set of homing ground spikes that chase heroes.
  • The Councilor of Magic casts a magic nova sending large projectiles in a ring around himself.
  • The Councilor of Wisdom casts poison fields that appear over the arena, dealing continuous damage.

When a councilor dies, the abilities of the surviving get augmented. For example killing the Councillor of magic causes the poison fields of the Councilor of Wisdom to also fire magic projectiles, while killing the Councilor of War would cause homing spikes to be launched.

The Councilors turn incorporeal at regular intervals and cannot be damaged until they apparate, at which point they stand stationary and use their abilities. When they are incorporeal and touch the player, they drain mana.

At higher new game+ levels the statues will acquire a lesser version of the ability used by the councilor they are attached to. The statues will glow brightly when this effect is used.

Strategy[]

Each of the councilors can be hurt by either attacking them when they become corporeal or by attacking their respective statue (War: bottom left, Magic: top, Wisdom: bottom right). The statues have high armor and resistance, so attacking the corporeal councilors will generally be preferred, though slower, tankier characters can use the statues as a safer option.

Because their abilities become far more dangerous if one or two dies early it is generally best to balance damaging them. Once all three are close to death they can be dealt with in rapid succession.

Watch the purple and red ghosts for their position during attacks, and watch the green circles for the Wisdom councilors fields. Both the Magic and War councilor's attacks can be blocked by hiding behind the statues. If the War councilors blades chase you, hugging the wall will cause them to run aground and prevent them from turning back on you after you dodge.

Trivia[]

  • In an early version the fields cast by the Councillor of Wisdom inflicted a frost debuff instead of poison and didn't hurt. This was changed in the April 26th update
